Textiles Library: Other Statistical Sources
Much specific statistical data is buried within other mountains of numerical
data, such as from federal or state governments and broad coverage databases.
Tips and suggestions for finding this information are provided in these bibliographies
and handbooks. The following are suggestions for further or more general research,
or starting points for beginning research.

Statistics Sources
Editors describe this two volume set as being a finding guide to statistics.
The resource is a comprehensive bibliography on statistical data sources on
industrial, business, social, educational, finanacial, and other topics for
the United States and internationally. The guide is arranged alphabetically
by subject. Each entry includes an alphabetical list of organizations, with
source and contact infromation, who are able to supply statistical data on
the topic. Countries are included in the primary alphabetical subject list,
so finding resources for a particular country is easy. Preceding the main subject
list is a selected bibliography of key statistical sources and a telephone
list of federal statistical contacts.

Federal and State Websites
This guide directs researchers to federal and state documents online. While
the source does not focus strictly on statistical information, but on government
websites, govenmental offices are some of the key provides of statstical data
and many times make this information available on the web. Each chapter is
written by a subject specialist and includes a description of the government
office and highlighted information that can be found on the website.

FedStats
This website is a guide to federal statistical data gathered from over 100
government agencies, listed by topic and geography. Statistical maps of states,
cities, districts, and other geographic locations are included. Search capabilities
are also available to look for the most specific information. This resource
is free to the public.

Statistical
This resource is LexisNexis' database of statistical publications. It contains
a large amount of information on many subjects, demographically and geographically,
including economic data. Search interface allows a keyword search with many
options to customize and narrow results. This resource is only available to
NCSU Library patrons.

The American Marketplace contains a great amount of data on trends
and patterns in many areas of consumer spending in the U.S., from health & education,
income & wealth, to population & labor. Brief analyses discuss the
data patterns and project future outcomes. The broad subject matter provides
for a wealth of general information easily used as a starting point for further
research. Thorough tables of contents and a detailed index makes it easy to
find specific data.

U.S. Census Bureau Economic Programs Provides a wide range of national and subnation economic data on a large number
of industries, businesses, services, and products.

The Census Bureau's collection of surveys provides monthly, quarterly, and annual
measures of manufacturing and industrial activity, including data on production
and shipments, for use in market analyses, forecasting, and decision making.
Reports are categorized by subject and North American Industrial Code System

Handbook
of U.S. Labor Statistics: Employment, Earnings, Prices, Productivity, and
Other Labor Data
The Handbook is a compilation of recent and historical labor market
data gathered by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data tables are organized
by subject matter with each section beginning with a summary of sources and methodology.
Data includes population and employment, hours and earnings, productivity, compensation,
price indeces, occupational health and safety, labor management relations, and
foreign labor. And the latest edition includes new information on training, occupation
